Stuart Moroney

Biography

Stuart has developed experience in a wide variety of projects across a broad spectrum of disciplines but has had a particular focus on helping clients make the transition from waste exemptions to environmental permits in anticipation of DEFRA’s exemption reforms.

Prior to SLR, Stuart spent 18 years as a Senior Regulatory Officer at the Environment Agency (EA) where he regulated permitted sites and enforced the requirements of the Environmental Permitting Regulations. As a warranted investigator, Stuart worked closely alongside external partners - including the Police and Trading Standards - to prosecute dozens of illegal waste operators and polluters, and was responsible for coordinating the EA’s response at countless large-scale environmental pollution and flooding incidents.

Stuart is a Chartered Waste Manager (MCIWM) with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM).
