Challenge
The client project had received approval by NRCB and by AEP under EPEA to develop, operate and reclaim a limestone quarry along with associated sand and gravel operations. The purpose of the project is to support oil sands and municipal development in the area over the next 20 years. SLR was retained by the client to address environmental regulatory requirements for a sand / gravel pit and limestone quarry regulated under EPEA.
Solution
SLR successfully provided monitoring plans for various technical aspects of the environmental program and, in liaison with the regulator, had the plans approved for use.
Impact
SLR provides ongoing operational support, completes annual monitoring and reporting and is working closely with the client to update reclamation and closure planning.
