Pele Green Energy- 300 MW Lebone Solar PV Energy Facility, Free State Province

Pele Green Energy (Pty) Ltd intends to develop the up to 300 MW Lebone Solar Photovoltaic Energy Facility. The proposed project is located on farm Karreebooms Vallei, adjacent to the town of Theunissen in wards 7 and 8 of the Masilonyana Local Municipality, Lejweleputswa District Municipality, Free State Province. In addition, the project includes the application for a General Authorisation (GA) or Water Use Licence (WUL) (as applicable), in terms of Section 39 or 41(4) of the National Water Act, 1998 (Act 36 of 1998).

As per the National Environment Management Act (NEMA, Act No. 107 of 1998, as amended) and the 2014 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations (2014 as amended), a Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (S&EIA) process will be followed for the Development. The formal application will be submitted to the Competent Authority (CA), Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE).

SLR Consulting (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd (SLR) has been appointed by Pele Green Energy (Pty) Ltd as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to undertake the required S&EIA process and manage the Public Participation Process for the proposed Lebone Solar PV Energy Facility.
