Biography
David is an Associate Consultant, bringing over two decades of international experience in the renewable energy sector. He holds two bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, as well as a master's degree in Energy Systems and Fluid Dynamics. David's expertise lies in technical advisory, modelling and design, feasibility studies, and due diligence for solar and hybrid systems, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). His work spans globally, optimising photovoltaic (PV) systems and leading projects involving BESS, mini-grids, and the evaluation of energy system prototypes.
Throughout his career, David has provided technical due diligence and advisory services for numerous utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects. He has developed design layouts, reviewed system configurations, and optimised PV and BESS systems. His detailed feasibility studies have supported various renewable energy projects, and he has conducted technical and commercial due diligence for utility-scale PV, BESS, and PV mini-grid sites in Central and East Africa. David has also led technical assessments for hybrid systems combining solar, wind, BESS, fuel cells, and hydrogen tanks. Additionally, he has undertaken technical reviews and performance evaluations of innovative energy systems, including solar dish models and energy systems with PCM thermal storage solutions. As a project manager, David has overseen diverse assignments and contributed to several publications, including the recent "Solar Power: A Practical Handbook."
His international experience spans countries such as South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Zambia, and many others across multiple continents.
