Nick Aiken

Biography

Based in our Christchurch office, Nick Aiken is a Technical Director and the South Island Planning Manager. An award-winning Environmental Planner and Urban Designer, he brings over 30 years’ experience delivering complex projects and leading high-performing teams across New Zealand and the UK.

Nick has worked on major infrastructure, masterplanning, and urban design projects for government agencies and local councils, combining technical expertise with strategic insight. He is a practicing RMA Hearings Commissioner with Chair Endorsement, whose skills span environmental policy, statutory and strategic planning, urban design, CPTED, and community engagement.

Nick is passionate about translating planning ideas into practical outcomes, ensuring projects balance technical excellence with lasting community impact.
