Biography

Pol studied landscape architecture and architecture at Edinburgh College of Art/Heriot Watt University, graduating in Landscape Architecture in 1993 and Master of Architecture in 1997 with Distinction. Through the course of his education he studied with ILAUD in Urbino, Italy, Rhode Island School of Design and Purdue University in the USA. He is a founding Director of OPEN - now part of SLR.

This mixture of architecture and landscape ensures Pol’s project experience is wide and varied. His recent experience has seen him develop major master planning, urban design and regeneration projects throughout the UK and abroad, from a large scale conceptual urban approaches and new towns to detail design and implementation. Pol’s role is as a design team / project leader, ensuring the coordination between disciplines both within the OPEN studio and also of other consultants. Principal clients include both private and public bodies, including Local Authorities, Regeneration Directorates, Urban Regeneration Companies and Health Trusts. He is a visiting lecturer at The University of Edinburgh and an Associate with Planning Aid Scotland (PAS).
