Killingworth Reservoir wetland mitigation

Client Name
Connecticut Water Company
Location

Challenge

Increasing demands for water supply in Guilford, Connecticut created a need for the Connecticut Water Company to expand their supply system yield, but in a way that continued to put water protection at the heart of its operations. To support efforts, Connecticut Water Company enlisted SLR to implement protection efforts for the area’s vital wetlands.

Solution

A programme of wetland enhancement and inventory was undertaken, with SLR developing a mitigation strategy to offset the wetland impacts, developed the wetland design plans and oversaw construction.

Impact

Construction of the 6.2-acre mitigation wetland was completed under the supervision of SLR wetland scientists and the project team implemented an ongoing monitoring programme, to ensure the protection efforts live on.
