Johan Oosthuizen

Biography

Johan is the Responsible Sourcing Lead for Africa at SLR, specialising in the design, implementation, and monitoring of responsible sourcing frameworks for mining and other complex supply chains. With more than 15 years of experience and over 1,000 audit and assessment days, he works across ethical trade, human rights due diligence, and sustainability assurance. His technical grounding spans the IFC Performance Standards, ILO conventions, OECD Due Diligence Guidance, the ETI Base Code, AA1000 assurance standards, and several responsible sourcing platforms including SMETA, SLCP, VIVE, and SIZA.

Johan’s work integrates practical field insight with systems-level thinking, enabling organisations to embed sustainability into procurement and supplier management practices. He leads supply chain assessments, develops responsible sourcing strategies, and supports the creation of monitoring systems that strengthen resilience, improve transparency, and drive long-term social and environmental outcomes.
