FEDA very much appreciated SLR's support throughout the due diligence process which was fundamental to the successful completion of a strategic investment of US$300 million to support ongoing development of the A2MP. We would not hesitate to recommend SLR for similar investment due diligence assignments.

Challenge
FEDA (Fund for Export Development in Africa), the development equity investment arm of African Export-Import Bank, was looking for technical and environmental due diligence support to make an informed investment decision in an African-focussed minerals and metals processing portfolio. The portfolio under evaluation comprised up to 12 projects and assets including integrated mineral development and infrastructure projects, active mining operations, and mineral processing facilities across seven different commodities and eight different countries in Africa, South America, and Australia.
The overall objective was to prepare a combined technical and environmental due diligence report covering all assets.
Solution
SLR formed a team of more than 35 consultants across mining technical, environmental, and social disciplines from SLR's Mining Advisory and Transition Finance teams. This was necessary to cover the wide-ranging scope and meet tight investment timelines. Working in partnership with FEDA's appointed legal and financial advisors while engaging with asset owner's teams, SLR concurrently reviewed all asset valuations and the robustness of underlying inputs and assumptions, focussing on the proposed mining and processing schedules and costs. SLR's stage-gated approach provided FEDA with regular feedback at critical stages of the due diligence process.
Impact
SLR provided interim and final report deliverables to communicate both asset and portfolio-level risks and opportunities that had the potential to influence the overall valuation and investment decisions. SLR evaluated assets against internationally recognised standards for Mineral Resource and Reserve reporting, ESG performance, and design and cost maturity. This approach provided FEDA with confidence in the validity and robustness of the portfolio.
FEDA completed a US$300 million strategic investment in November 2025, providing support for ongoing asset development and execution to create value across the African mining and processing supply chain.
