Ruby Hills Wind Farm community and stakeholder engagement

Client Name
Origin Energy
Location
New England Region, New South Wales, Australia

Challenge

The proposed Ruby Hills Wind Farm is located around 10km west of Walcha, in the southern part of the New England Renewable Energy Zone, New South Wales. The project area is strategically located next to key transmission infrastructure proposed by Energy Co.

Our Social Performance team supported Origin’s commitments to engage, support and invest in its local communities, and to build trust with community members and stakeholders, for the Ruby Hills Wind Farm project.

Solution

Our team developed a tailored Community and Stakeholder Engagement Plan (CSEP) in accordance with Origin’s Social Performance and Communities Framework to better understand the local community’s needs, priorities and perceptions. The CSEP sought to remedy existing community concerns through transparent communication and meaningful engagement to foster trust between Origin and the community.

Impact

Delivery of the CSEP will cultivate community and stakeholder confidence in Origin’s social legacy by providing a framework to introduce the project to the local community and stakeholders, and to establish and build relationships, to assist in garnering support for the project.
