Climate Resilience & Net-Zero
Climate resilience, by transitioning to a Net-Zero world, is one of the greatest challenges humankind has faced. Every country, sector, industry, and each one of us must work together to find ways to cut greenhouse gas emissions, transforming the way we produce, consume and move about.
Climate resilience can be a complex process, involving the capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the future impacts of hazardous climatic events as well as the transition to a low carbon economy. All whilst minimising damage to societal wellbeing, the economy, the environment and, of course, day to day business.
Climate Resilience Overview
There is no silver bullet, a multi-solving approach to the challenge is required. SLR's integrated approach to sustainability means we are uniquely positioned to support you with your transition to Net-Zero while building resilience to physical climate impacts.
Get in touchTo avert the worst impacts of climate change and preserve a liveable planet, global temperature increase needs to be limited to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. To achieve this, greenhouse gas emissions need to be reduced by 45% by 2030 and reach Net-Zero by 2050.
Governments will play a major role in the transition to Net-Zero emissions by mid-century. But companies and investors, through their scale and influence, can have a big impact on global emissions and make a significant contribution towards national climate goals.
Increasingly, shareholders expect companies to have Net-Zero targets and plans in place. Disclosing this information is becoming mandatory for businesses around the world as legislation and guidance on climate transition plans develop.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), has set out the world’s first Net-Zero standard, providing companies with a framework and tools to effectively implement the Net-Zero target.
Achieving Net-Zero also requires protecting and restoring nature. Our ecosystems play an important role in regulating climate, absorbing roughly half of man-made carbon emissions. At the same time, climate change affects natural systems and is one of the causes of biodiversity loss.
SLR can support you with climate change solutions and your transition to Net-Zero, and enhance your climate resilience, providing a full spectrum of sustainability solutions from strategy to technical delivery.
